Dear Friends,
We’re very sad to say that after a rocky financial year and a costly move to the East End the company Popbarz Ltd that runs The Ghetto has gone into administration.
We are glad to say however that its sister company, which runs popstarz, China Dog Ltd, will continue to run popstarz at the Den every Friday (and New Years Eve) as planned and that popstarz has had the best 12 months for many years and is, as you know, currently a rocking success.
We are also glad to say that the Ghetto venue is now being handled by our good friend Wayne Shires, who used to run Sub Station Soho and Crash etc in Vauxhall. Wayne has already started some major improvements to the venue and has some hugely exciting things planned for the space, from beary nights to quirky cabaret. The new name for Ghetto Old St will be ‘East Bloc’ and is currently still open with Beartronic on Fridays and Wigout on Saturdays. It will be officially re-launched in the new year. pop down and see the improvements, as the space is already looking spanking and attracting a cool crowd.
Wig Out will continue to be run by the popstarz team at East Bloc every Saturday, free entry before 11pm and £5 after.
We’d like to thank everyone who has partied at both Ghetto venues and all our staff, promoters and performers who have had huge input and become like family to us.
It is our hope to reopen the Ghetto at another venue sometime in 2010. Anybody with suggestions for places feel free to get in touch.
Come and party at the last official Wigout at The Ghetto this Saturday 19th December which is also our Christmas party with free pressies, xmas décor, xmas punch and more. Then we’ll see you on Jan 2nd for the first Wigout at East Bloc which is the ‘Wigout NYE recovery party ‘and every Saturday thereafter.
Here’s to 2010
Much love,
Tommy Turntables
and the Ghetto team.
